Netball Australia is committed to providing a safe, fun, welcoming and inclusive environment for all people, including those of diverse sexualities and genders.  

We are committed to changing attitudes and promoting positive language and policies that assist the LGBTQI+ community in feeling welcomed, comfortable and supported in our workplace and in our game. 

Netball Australia has zero-tolerance for any form of bullying, harassment, and/or vilification towards people with diverse sexuality and/or genders. This includes forms of homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, interphobia, as well as all forms of vilification against any person or group.

LGBTQI+ is Netball Australia’s preferred use to recognise the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/ questioning community. The + holds space for the expansion of genders and sexual identities.

ACON Health is Australia’s largest LGBTQ health organisation that provides global leadership in areas of community health, inclusion, and HIV responses for people of diverse sexualities and genders. 

Pride in Sport is Australia’s first and only sporting inclusion program specifically designed to assist sporting organisations at all levels with the inclusion of employees, players, volunteers and spectators with diverse genders and sexualities. Netball Australia are a proud member of Pride in Sport, since 2020.

The Pride in Sport Index is the first and only benchmarking instrument in Australia specifically designed to assess the inclusion of people with diverse sexualities and genders within Australian sporting organisations. Netball Australia are working to achieve a status on this index. 

TransHub is a digital information and resource platform for all trans and gender diverse people, their loved ones, allies and health providers. TransHub offers the information that many trans individuals so desperately needed, but   didn’t have access to as we grew up or grew toward our most authentic selves. 

Minus 18 is an organisation dedicated to LGBTQI+ youth in Australia. Created to lead change, build social inclusion and advocate for an Australia where all young people are safe, empowered, and surrounded by people that support them.

All complaints will be taken seriously, managed confidentially, and dealt with in accordance with Netball Australia’s National Integrity Framework. Reports through the Hotline can be made anonymously.

Further Support  

QLife is an Australia-wide telephone and webchat peer support and referral service for LGBTIQ+ people and their loved ones. QLife is a free and anonymous service run by LGBTIQ+ peers for those wanting to talk about a range of issues including sexuality, identity, gender, bodies, feelings or relationships.

LGBTQI+ people may experience discrimination, harassment and hostility in many aspects of their everyday life – in their places of work and education and when accessing health or other services. Lifeline are here to listen and support you, without judgement.
