NSW Swifts Vice-Captain Paige Hadley, will miss Round 9 with a knee injury.
Emily Keenan, a long time NSW representative has been called into the side as a temporary replacement for Round 9, as Hadley is rested.
“Paige has picked up a knee injury in the last few weeks which we have been managing, however we hope that with some rest and the help of our expert medical team she will be back on court as soon as possible,” Head Coach Rob Wright said.
“As with all the Swifts, the athlete’s wellbeing is paramount. By giving Paige a rest this week we hope it will help her get back to 100% fitness for the remainder of the season.
“Paige will be assessed again next week by our medical team before making any decision on her fitness ahead of Round 10.”
West Coast Fever shooter Kate Beveridge will also miss Round 9 with a minor knee complaint.
Fever training partner Sophie Garbin has been called into the side as a temporary replacement player.
“The Club’s medical team anticipate Kate to be available to play in Round 10 after a full week of training,” Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich said.
“It’s unfortunate that we will be without Kate’s versatility against the Firebirds but this was a necessary measure to ensure she fully recovers and is ready to play out the remainder of the season.”
