Kiera Austin has capped off a stellar season by winning GIANTS Netball’s top honour, the Most Valuable Player.
The 23-year-old was named MVP in both round seven and 13, earnt recognition in the Nissan Net Points Team of the Year and was also named in the Origin Australian Diamonds Squad at the completion of the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball Season.
In the club’s short history, Austin becomes the youngest player to take out the Most Valuable Player Award.
Coach Julie Fitzgerald congratulated the young star.
“There’s no doubt that Kiera has had a fantastic year and this is a fitting recognition,” she said.
“Kiera made a seamless transition into the starting seven line-up this year and it’s been fabulous to see her own her spot and time on court.
“She proved time and time again this year why she is one of Australia’s best up and coming shooters and she was rightfully rewarded with her selection in the Australian Diamonds Squad.
“I look forward to seeing what Kiera can achieve in 2021 and how she continues to grow her game.”
The top honour wasn’t the only recognition for Austin at the 2020 Gala Dinner, she also took home the Players’ Player Award.
Young gun Amy Parmenter was voted the Members’ Player of the Year for a second year in a row.
GIANTS Academy athlete and Training Partner Claire Iongi was awarded the Marj Groves AM Scholarship for her outstanding talent and leadership within the program.
