The Adelaide Thunderbirds have today announced that Samantha Gooden will join the Club as a permanent replacement player in 2020 to complete their 10-person roster, after it was announced recently that Cody Lange will step away from the sport in 2020.
Gooden made her Suncorp Super Netball debut in 2017 with the Magpies and in 2018 was a permanent replacement player with the Melbourne Vixens, before returning to the Magpies in 2019 as a training partner.
The 190cm athlete joins the Adelaide Thunderbirds with experience in Suncorp Super Netball, the Australian Netball League and Netball Australia’s underage pathways with the Victorian State 19/Under and 21/Under teams.
Thunderbirds head coach Tania Obst was thrilled with the signing, sighting Gooden's experience and play style as key factors in the decision to add the Victorian native for the 2020 season.
“We are very excited to announce Samantha Gooden will join the Adelaide Thunderbirds in season 2020 to bolster our attacking end.”
“Samantha has experience both playing and training within the Suncorp Super Netball environment and she is a tall, mobile and accurate goaler who can play both goal attack and goal shooter.”
“Her playing ability will give the team flexibility within the goal circle and will complement the strengths of Lenize Potgieter, Charlee Hodges and Sasha Glasgow when she returns from injury.”
The Thunderbirds will kick-off their 2020 season against GIANTS Netball in round one at Priceline Stadium on Sunday May 3.
