After a strangely calm post grand final month, all the available Suncorp Super Netball list spots have been filled, leaving players to head off into their summer (spring) break to refresh, recharge and reignite their passion ahead of the 2025 campaign.
Did your club adequately address its concerns and put themselves in the best possible position to go for gold next year?
Take a look at our review of each club’s 2024 signing window below.
Adelaide Thunderbirds
2025 list
Goalers
Romelda Aiken-George
Lauren Frew
Lucy Austin
Kayla Graham
Midcourt
Tayla Williams
Georgie Horjus
Hannah Petty
Defenders
Shamera Sterling-Humphrey
Latayna Wilson
Matilda Garrett
In: Graham
Out: Orr (London Pulse), Scherian (retired)
No real surprises here from the back-to-back champions, who made a real push to extend the contracts of key players like Horjus, Williams and Garrett.
Interestingly they filled Laura Scherian’s spot with young shooter Kayla Graham, which while strengthening their future shooting stocks for the post Aiken-George era, does take away from their midcourt versatility which served them so well in 2024.
Hannah Petty can expect more court time and Tayla Williams will find herself in the wings, but all in all the Thunderbirds look set for another tilt in 2025.
Melbourne Vixens
2025 list
Goalers
Sophie Garbin
Kiera Austin
Lily Graham
Midcourters
Kate Moloney
Hannah Mundy
Zara Walters
Kate Eddy
Defenders
Rudi Ellis
Jo Weston
Emily Mannix
In: N/A
Out: Lambden (Swifts), Coffey (Birmingham Panthers), Andrew (London Mavericks)
The Vixens have decided to stick with the squad which got them within touching distance of an inspirational premiership.
Emily Mannix, who is expecting her first child, will make a decision regarding the 2025 season in the new year, and given the list profile the Vixens have they could select any type of replacement player, such is their depth in all positions.
They will be disappointed to lose the likes of Coffey, Andrew and Lambden who they called upon regularly during an injury ravaged 2024, but if they can keep a clean bill of health in 2025, they’ll be around the mark once again.
West Coast Fever
2025 list
Goalers
Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard
Shanice Beckford
Olivia Wilkinson
Midcourters
Jess Anstiss
Jordan Cransberg
Alice Teague-Neeld
Defenders
Kadie-Ann Dehaney
Fran Williams
Sunday Aryang
Ruth Aryang
In: Aryang (elevated from 11th player)
Out: Browne
The Fever have decided to deepen their defensive stocks for 2025, choosing to contract Ruth Aryang ahead of Kelsey Browne this off-season.
The move rewards the younger Aryang sister who has yet to put a foot wrong during her development and wards off any rival replacement player interest which may have appeared as the season approached.
Browne will remain at the club as a training partner, so can still provide midcourt cover if injuries occur.
Sunday Aryang could continue to be their first-choice wing defence, despite her influence as a circle defender, while the Fever are backing Shanice Beckford to flourish with another pre-season under her belt as they slowly bring through the highly touted Olivia Wilkinson.
They’ll be in the mix again in 2025 regardless, because any club with Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard is a premiership threat.
Sunshine Coast Lightning
2025 list
Goalers
Cara Koenen
Steph Fretwell
Reilley Batcheldor
Midcourters
Liz Watson
Leesa Mi Mi
Ava Black
Mahalia Cassidy
Defenders
Courtney Bruce
Ashleigh Ervin
Tara Hinchliffe
In: N/A
Out: Bell (Stars – NZ)
No changes for the Lightning, who did all their work 12 months earlier.
They’ve lost training partner Charlie Bell to the ANZ Championship, and whilst they’ll be disappointed to lose a talented back-up it’s hard to see how they could’ve squeezed her into this squad currently.
On paper 2024 was an underwhelming campaign, but the Lightning made finals, unexpectedly got some crucial experience into their younger brigade and will benefit from another pre-season together.
Underestimate them at your peril.
Melbourne Mavericks
2025 list
Goalers
Eleanor Cardwell
Sasha Glasgow
Shimona Jok
Midcourters
Molly Jovic
Amy Parmenter
Tayla Fraser
Maisie Nankivell
Defenders
Olivia Lewis
Lauren Moore
Kim Jenner
In: Jok (elevated from 11th player)
Out: Sinclair (Birmingham Panthers)
What a 12 months for Shimona Jok. Seemingly set to spend a year in the Victorian Netball League the Jamaican international found herself a key member of the Mavericks goal circle, won the clubs inaugural MVP award and was their marquee signing this window.
Intrigue will surround the goal attack position for 2025, with Cardwell and Glasgow both very viable options. We will see those two Roses on court in the power five though, as the Mavericks make the most of their long-range prowess.
Lauren Moore’s return will be welcomed, and eyes will be on who gets the nod for the wing attack role following the re-signing of Maisie Nankivell.
NSW Swifts
2025 list
Goalers
Grace Nweke
Helen Housby
Sophie Fawns
Midcourters
Paige Hadley
Maddy Proud
Allie Smith
Sharni Lambden
Defenders
Sarah Klau
Maddy Turner
Teigan O’Shannassy
In: Nweke, Lambden
Out: Gorman-Brown, Wallace-Joseph
The Swifts rebounded quickly from their tumultuous 2024 campaign by landing one of the biggest signings in recent memory, Kiwi superstar Grace Nweke.
Nweke is one of the brightest prospects in world netball and will be deadly in combination with Helen Housby, who still impressed despite being below her best in 2024, and mid court veterans Paige Hadley and Maddy Proud.
The signing of Lambden is a shrewd one as well. The Victorian pathway product can play across three positions (WD/C/GD) and will give Briony Akle more versatility in the wing defence spot.
With their new shooting power couple and a fit Maddy Proud, you can expect to see the Swifts contending again in 2025.
Queensland Firebirds
2025 list
Goalers
Mary Cholhok
Tippah Dwan
Emily Moore
Midcourters
Imogen Allison
Macy Gardner
Lara Dunkley
Hulita Veve
Defenders
Ruby Bakewell-Doran
Isabelle Shearer
Ashlee Barnett
In: Cholhok, Allison, Barnett
Out: Wallam (Mystics – NZ), Kamo (Stars – NZ), Ravallion (retired)
If you include new head coach Kiri Willis, there are four fresh faces in the Firebirds line up for 2025 as they try to embark on a new journey.
201cm shooter Mary Cholhok will be their number one scoring outlet, crossing to the SSN after a period of dominance in the NSL, while Imogen Allison also makes the switch from northern to southern hemisphere and will take over as midcourt maestro in lieu of the retired Ravallion.
Meanwhile in defence Ruby Bakewell-Doran will have a lot to do once again, with the Firebirds electing to go for an inexperienced pair of deputies for the Diamonds invitee.
GIANTS
2025 list
Goalers
Jo Harten
Sophie Dwyer
Matisse Letherbarrow
Midcourters
Jamie-Lee Price
Maddie Hay
Amy Sligar
Gina Crampton
Defenders
Matilda McDonnell
Jodi-Ann Ward
Erin O’Brien
In: Crampton
Out: Winders
Just the one change list wise for the GIANTS, with Sam Winders replaced by Gina Crampton in the mid court, in what could prove to be a very smart move.
The GIANTS lacked creativity in the first half of the season whilst Maddie Hay was on the comeback trail, and Crampton gives Julie Fitzgerald another weapon in a key attacking role.
The biggest decisions are still to be made for the GIANTS.
Do they stick with Jo Harten as the starting shooter or hand the responsibility to Letherbarrow and Dwyer?
How do they get the best out of the ball-winning McDonnell-Ward combination?
One thing is for sure. They only way is up.
