A new team, blockbuster matches and a new-look First Nations Round headline the Suncorp Super Netball League’s 2024 fixture.
Saturday night timeslots and back-to-back Sunday matches will return next year, with all Sunday matches live and free on Kayo Freebies.
The eighth Suncorp Super Netball season starts on Saturday 13 April with GIANTS Netball facing the West Coast Fever, before reigning premiers the Adelaide Thunderbirds begin their title defence against the Queensland Firebirds.
The season’s first Sunday match will showcase the league’s newest rivalry, between the Melbourne Mavericks and the Melbourne Vixens.
The league’s dedicated First Nations Round will be held across two weeks in 2024, to coincide with National Reconciliation Week in Round 7 and NAIDOC Week in Round 13. All First Nations Round matches will be live and free on Kayo Freebies.
Inclusion Round in Round 4 will showcase netball as a sport for everyone, with national inclusion causes championed by each club. The introduction of the round in 2023 enabled clubs to hero the LGBTIQ+ community, the CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) community, people with a disability.
The 2023 Grand Final rematch will take place in Round 7, with the Adelaide Thunderbirds hosting the NSW Swifts.
In a first for the reigning premiers, all Thunderbirds home matches will be played at Adelaide Entertainment Centre to allow for more fans to support their team in person.
The Suncorp Super Netball Finals Series is set to begin on Saturday 20 July, with the Grand Final to be held on Saturday 3 August at Adelaide Entertainment Centre, in partnership with the South Australian Government.
Netball Australia Executive General Manager – Suncorp Super Netball, Events and Commercial, Adam Richardson, said the fixture provided optimal access for fans to watch and attend matches.
"With some of the largest crowds to date in the 2023 season, we are thrilled to announce a fixture that will build on that success and break even more records in 2024,” Richardson said.
"We are also excited to see how the introduction of the Suncorp Super Netball League's newest team, the Melbourne Mavericks, will shake things up and continue to build on the history of the world's best netball league."
In addition to Sunday matches being live and free on Kayo Freebies all home-and-away game and finals matches will be broadcast live and ad-break free during play on Fox Sports, available on Foxtel and Kayo.
“It’s exciting to usher in a new era of Suncorp Super Netball with the Melbourne Mavericks joining the competition in 2024,” said Foxtel Group’s Executive Director – Commercial Sport, Rebecca McCloy.
“It promises to be a fresh start for one of Australia’s most highly participated sports and we’re pleased to offer all Sunday matches live and free on Kayo Freebies to make the league more accessible for all fans of the game.”
