Langman made her debut in 2003 with the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic while still in high school and went on to play more than 225 national league games across four clubs, the Magic, Northern Mystics, NSW Swifts and Sunshine Coast Lightning.
Langman captained the Magic in 2010 and 2011 and won three premierships with the club in 2005, 2006 and 2011. She also won a title with the Sunshine Coast Lightning and has led the team as captain for the past two seasons.
The 34-year-old also had a stellar international career, becoming the most capped Silver Fern in history, representing New Zealand at three Commonwealth Games and four Netball World Cups, and captaining the Silver Ferns from 2018 to 2020.
Lightning Head Coach Kylee Byrne said that while she’d love the midcourter to remain at Lightning for another season, she has the utmost respect for Langman and her decision to move on.
“The legacy that Lauz will leave at our Club and the sport in general is monumental, one of netball’s greats has retired this week,” Byrne said.
“I could spend hours highlighting the great moments and attributes that make Lauz so special and those that know her or have been in her presence will understand that she is one of a kind.”
Langman’s final appearance on the netball court was the 2020 Preliminary Final where the Lightning were defeated by the West Coast Fever.
