In an exciting first for netball in Australia, the Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) has secured exclusive radio rights for Suncorp Super Netball and Origin Australian Diamonds matches, as part of a three-year agreement with Netball Australia.
Netball fans will be able to enjoy unprecedented coverage of the Suncorp Super Netball competition, with SEN to broadcast a ‘Match of the Round’ each week and every match of SEN’s newly acquired eighth SSN Team across its radio and digital platforms.
SEN’s radio coverage of the Diamonds will begin in October, with the newly crowned World Cup winners playing two international test series.
Netball Australia CEO Kelly Ryan said this new deal will increase coverage for fans.
“This is an exciting step for netball, as it’s the first time we have been able to commercialise radio rights for the sport,” she said.
“We know there is more appetite than ever for elite netball. Suncorp Super Netball is the best netball competition in the world and the Diamonds are the reigning World Cup winners.
“We are looking forward to working with SEN to boost coverage for fans both domestically and internationally.”
SEN Chief Executive Craig Hutchison said this deal shows the group’s commitment to the sport, in addition to running the newest team in the Suncorp Super Netball competition.
“We are all in on netball, and I’m thrilled to announce these broadcasting initiatives that will allow fans to enjoy even more netball action than ever before,” he said.
“There is a real appetite to follow the sport both domestically and internationally, and we look forward to delivering extensive coverage via our radio and digital platforms.”
