Get your marker pen and next year’s calendar ready because the 2025 Suncorp Super Netball fixture has landed and you won’t want to miss a moment.
There’s no shortage of mouthwatering match ups to keep you entertained, from the Grand Final rematch to battles for state supremacy the 2025 fixture has it all.
Here’s our top picks for the new season.
Round 1 Thunderbirds vs Vixens
It doesn’t get bigger than this.
Fans won’t have to wait long for the league’s juggernauts to battle it out in the rematch of the Grand Final.
In August, two goals were all that prevented the Vixens from glory, while the Thunderbirds celebrated going back-to-back.
When the two sides meet again, the Vixens will have everything to prove as they head back into enemy territory.
The Vixens will need to treasure every possession. If they don’t... the Thunderbirds are the most likely team to punish them at the other end. While the Thunderbirds will need to shut down the Vixens’ attack with both Kiera Austin and Sophie Garbin capable of slotting super shots to win a game.
Round 3 Lightning vs Firebirds
The battle for bragging rights in Queensland is always entertaining to watch.
Although last year’s clashes didn’t result in any nailbiters, expect next year’s to go up in intensity.
The Firebirds have recruited well, bringing in world class goal shooter Mary Cholhok and midcourter Imogen Allison under the new leadership of Kiri Wills.
Cholhok will present an interesting challenge for Lightning defender Courtney Bruce, the duo having only lined up against each other once on the international stage. While in the midcourt two of the world’s best netballers will run the show for both teams with Allison and Liz Watson playing a similar role.
The Lightning will have a slight edge, hosting the match at UniSC Arena but the Firebirds will be prepared to bring it to them.
Round 3 Vixens vs Fever
In recent years, one rivalry has stood out above the rest in SSN.
The Melbourne Vixens vs West Coast Fever.
The rivalry between the Vixens and Fever continues to grow.
Each time they go head-to-head, what ensues is a tense battle for dominance whether it be in the Vixens den or Fever stronghold.
The last time the two sides met was in the Preliminary Final, the Vixens established a strong lead, but the Fever’s never say die attitude almost stole the show.
Both teams have talent in spades, Fowler-Nembhard's hold in the goal circle is unstoppable but the Vixens have found ways to overcome it before resulting in heartbreak.
In the midcourt Jess Anstiss and Kate Moloney lead the charge for both sides, both players have a defensive element to their game that takes the match up to another level when it gets close.
Both sides boast strong defensive units with players who have represented their countries at an international level bringing extra pressure in defence.
Their first meeting in Round 3 will be unmissable and expect the pressure to hit boiling point again come Round 14 ahead of finals.
Round 9 Swifts vs Fever
Two powerhouse goalers headline the Swifts and Fever in 2025. Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard has been a stalwart for the Fever for years while the Swifts have lured New Zealand superstar Grace Nweke.
Fever were unstoppable against the Swifts in 2024 but the Swifts will be hoping it was just a blip on their radar.
Over the past couple of seasons there’s been some cracking matches between the two sides and with the Swifts recruitment of Nweke 2025 is set to be tantalising.
With Nweke in the goal circle alongside the equally talented Helen Housby the Swifts have the potential to go all the way. As do the Fever who have missed out on playing in the last two grand finals by the smallest of margins.
With two of the world’s best goal shooters, the match is going to come down to which team can get on top of the other in defence and can control the midcourt.
Defensively the Fever were strong against the Swifts in 2024 while the Swifts struggled to stay in play as the league’s most penalised team.
With their lessons learned in 2024 expect the Swifts to come out firing with a point to prove in the new year and who better to prove it against than the Fever at home.
Round 14 GIANTS vs Mavericks
The GIANTS have a point to prove in 2025, having finished at the bottom of the ladder in 2024 they’ll be chasing wins harder than ever before.
The last time the Mavericks met with the GIANTS it was an absolute thriller igniting the crowd at Ken Rosewall Arena.
The Mavericks gave it everything they had to keep their nose in front of the GIANTS at the final whistle.
It was a physical battle full of gains creating game-changing moments with no love lost between the two sides.
The GIANTS did everything they could to defeat the Mavs with the crowd behind them, but the Melbourne side were undaunted by the roaring crowd.
Returning to enemy territory in Round 14, the Mavericks are set for another nailbiting clash with the GIANTS.
There’s been no big shake ups to either line up but with the Mavericks expected to have injured players Sasha Glasgow and Lauren Parkinson (nee Moore) back in their lineup it’ll be interesting to watch how this game plays out.
Parkinson, a former GIANT will come up against her old side in Sydney for the first time since her harrowing ACL injury against them during the 2024 Suncorp Team Girls Cup.
She knows their attack line inside and out creating what will be a brilliant contest.
