The news of their commitment follows that of Shimona Nelson, the teenage Jamaican international, who announced on Monday that she has joined the Magpies for the next two years.
Robinson has captained the Magpies for the last two seasons and led the mid-court, often in the company of Ravaillion who is poised to head into camp with the Diamonds next week. Robinson, a Diamonds regular for almost a decade, retired from international competition earlier this year. Both are foundation Magpies.
Garrett won promotion from the team’s training squad for the 2018 season and flourished as an understudy to the recently retired Sharni Layton. The 20-year-old is considered to be an international defender in the making.
Robinson and Ravaillion have signed one-year agreements, with Garrett penning a two-year deal.
Another foundation Magpie, Alice Teague-Neeld, will be leaving the squad. The 22 year-old shooter, a member of the Australian Youth World Cup squad in 2017, saw limited minutes on court in 2018.
General Manager of Magpies Netball, Jennifer McIntyre, said that with the retirements of Layton, Shae Brown and Erin Bell the retention of Robinson, Ravaillion and Garrett was important.
“Madi and Kim are vastly experienced and either in or just out of the Diamonds program. They are elite as players but also, with so much change taking place under new coach Rob Wright, the wise heads who can make the transition that is underway as seamless as possible,” McIntyre said.
“Matilda is very much the future. She has outstanding attributes and is someone we hope will continue to progress and be with us for a long time.”
McIntyre also thanked Teague-Neeld for her service.
“Alice was a wonderful member of our squad. She was one our youngest players and is still a relatively young player who could yet make her mark. We all hope the best for her.”
