“Obviously the first thing people are asking is ‘why Kate Moloney, Emily Mannix, Liz Watson, Jo Weston, Tegan Philip, Renae Ingles and Kadie-Ann Dehaney have all signed on.
Captain Kate Moloney said she didn’t think twice about putting pen to paper.
“I love the club, and it was an easy decision to make. We’re heading in the right direction and I can’t wait to see where we go in the next three years,” said Moloney.
“We’ll see some fresh faces going in to 2019, so while it’s going to be a slightly different line up, it will be the same Vixens brand of netball which we honestly believe will get us back into the top four next year.”
It was the comeback story of 2018 and Renae Ingles is proving she’s not done yet, signing on for another year with the Vixens.
“I’m back again and I honestly couldn’t be more excited,” said the Vixens veteran who took to the court 10 times this year after retiring in 2017.
again?’ and it’s just because I’m enjoying it so much,” said Ingles.
“I’ve loved coming back into the Vixens environment. I love what the Vixens are about, and I feel that we have more that we can achieve as a team.”
Head coach Simone McKinnis believes having seven players re-commit is a great sign that the Vixens have a thirst to bounce back in 2019.
“To have seven players re-sign shows the faith this playing group has in the direction we want to go as a club in 2019 and beyond,” said McKinnis.
“While we obviously didn’t have the year we wanted this year, this group is hungrier than ever to be playing finals next year.”
The Melbourne Vixens will celebrate the 2018 season at the Sharelle McMahon Medal on Friday night, where the Vixens’ most valuable player will be awarded.
