The League has advised all teams of COVID-19 Contingency Framework to support the 2022 season.
The framework is designed to support the competition’s communication, preparation and response planning in circumstances where there is an increased risk of COVID-19 exposure.
The below contingencies are in place for the 2022 season:
- Two additional training partners are permitted to travel with teams for all away matches
- A list of supplementary players has been developed in each state to assist the facilitation of training and matches
- Teams must travel with a minimum of two coaches
- If both coaches are impacted by COVID-19, the game will proceed with a League-approved replacement coach
- An increased number of pre-identified umpires have been offered casual contracts to broaden the potential pool
- COVID-19 protocols, including regular testing
The League will consider a team’s request to reschedule a match if:
- Five or more squad players are impacted by COVID-19
- Three players from one position (goalers, midcourt or defenders) are impacted by COVID-19
The League will review the circumstances on a case-by-case basis and take into consideration health and safety requirements, government regulations and any other relevant information to determine whether to reschedule a match.
Executive General Manager – Suncorp Super Netball, Events and Commercial, Adam Richardson, said the health and safety of players, teams, supporters and the broader community was paramount.
“Over the past two seasons the League has successfully navigated the challenges of a global pandemic and we are incredibly excited to deliver a home-and-away season this year,” Richardson said.
“We are planned and prepared for the 2022 season, and this framework will support our ability to adapt quickly and make decisions in circumstances where there is an increased risk of COVID-19 exposure.
“When making decisions, our priority will always be the health and safety of our players, teams, supporters and the broader community.
“The sixth season of Suncorp Super Netball is shaping up to be our best yet, and we will make all the necessary decisions to ensure we can deliver a full 60-game season.”
