Guscoth, who lined up in goal defence for the Roses throughout the recent Quad Series, has come off an exceptional season in the Vitality Netball Superleague playing for Team Bath where she was named in the All Star VII team.
Guscoth said, “I am really looking forward to the opportunity to train in a professional environment and play in the best league in the world. I’ve been watching Suncorp Super Netball for the past two seasons and can’t wait to play in the fast, ferocious and skilled competition.”
“Signing with the Adelaide Thunderbirds is a great opportunity to work with Tania Obst who is a great coach, and to play and train with great netballers including some of my Roses teammates and top defenders in Kate Shimmin and Shamera Sterling,” she said.
“The Thunderbirds have an exciting vision and I am thrilled to be a part of it all.” Guscoth, who is a doctor, added “I’m also looking forward to living near the beach.”
Adelaide Thunderbirds Head Coach Tania Obst said, “Layla is a tenacious defender with great agility and footwork to effectively disrupt shooting circles. Her ability to contest ball in the air is also a highlight of her game and I have no doubt our members and supporters will enjoy watching Layla line up for the Thunderbirds in 2019.”
“Layla is able to effectively cover all three defensive positions, which adds the diversity required in a 10-player roster,” she said.
Guscoth is the ninth player announced for the Adelaide Thunderbirds 2019 roster.
