West Coast Fever are the first Suncorp Super Netball club to lock in their full squad for 2020, with goaler Kaylia Stanton signing a new one-year deal.
The Fever announced on Wednesday that Stanton had re-signed through to the end of next season.
Speculation had surrounded who would fill the final goaling spot on the Fever roster, with Jhaniele Fowler and Alice Teague-Neeld already on multi-year deals.
But Stanton, who played 10 games in 2019 but battled a foot injury during the season, will return to the franchise next year as the Fever look to improve on a disappointing year in which they finish sixth and won only two games.
Stanton said her heart was in Perth and
“I’ve been a Fever player for six years, I love Perth and the passion our members bring to game day,” the 25-year-old said.
“I’m looking forward to playing my role in our team’s game and with the coaching staff, show our loyal members we’re worthy of their support.”
Fever coach Stacey Marinkovich said it was exciting to lock in her entire squad so early, allowing the club to begin planning and building for their 2020 assault.
“Stability is a key foundation of success and we are looking forward to maximising the continuity within our playing roster and optimising these relationships as we seek to improve our results in 2020,” Marinkovich said.
“Having the ability to implement the key findings coming out of our review process with a stable and available playing group will give us a jump on our preparations for next season.”
