Courtney Bruce will serve as Club Captain for a second consecutive year and head up the defence section of the court, with Verity Charles to lead the mid-court and Jhaniele Fowler as the voice for the attacking end.
Fever’s on-court leaders will act as the custodians of the game plan, responsible for carrying that game plan into match day and making decisions in the heat of battle that lead the team’s performance
West Coast Fever Head Coach, Stacey Marinkovich touched on the importance of Fever’s move away from the traditional leadership approach.
“As a team and as a Club, we have a huge belief that holistic leadership across the entire playing group plays an instrumental role in being successful both on and off the court,” said Marinkovich.
“This approach really targets our on-court performance, as on-court success doesn’t land on any one person’s shoulders and it allows for the experience and leadership to come from players on the court that can really help drive the game plan during critical moments.”
The club has placed significant emphasis on developing all ten players’ leadership skills as they are responsible for driving the club’s purpose, principles and standards in their day to day environment.
