The Queensland Firebirds have announced that Head Coach Roselee Jencke OAM has informed the club that 2020 will be her final year in the role.
Jencke’s 11-year tenure included three premierships, five Grand Final appearances, an undefeated season in 2011, consecutive ANZ Championship Coach of the Year awards in 2015 and 2016, and the second highest total of games as Head Coach in National League history.
Jencke made the decision following the conclusion of the Firebirds 2020 campaign, feeling it was the right time for change.
“Finishing the season with strong momentum has positioned this group well for the future, so it’s the right time for the team to start their next chapter” Jencke said.
“I’m very proud of everything we have achieved over the last 11 years - there have been challenging times however, there have been many more moments of joy and success, and I want to thank everyone in the Club and our wonderful fans for their support over the years.”
Netball Queensland Chair Eugenie Buckley thanked Jencke for her service.
“Rose has made an invaluable contribution to the culture of success we have built at the Queensland Firebirds across the past decade,” Buckley said.
“We are grateful for all she has given the Club, both on and off the court, and wish her every success for the next phase of her netball journey.”
The Queensland Firebirds have commenced the recruitment process for a new Head Coach for the 2021 season and beyond.
