The Queensland Firebirds have been fined for breaching the Suncorp Super Netball League’s Competition Rules during the 2022 player signing period.
A review by the League Compliance Manager determined the Firebirds breached the Competition Rules by including Additional Services Agreements as part of letters of offer to a number of players.
The Firebirds have received a $10,000 fine, with $5,000 suspended.
Netball Queensland, which owns and operates the Firebirds, has accepted the penalty.
Executive General Manager – Commercial, Suncorp Super Netball and Events, Adam Richardson, said compliance of the Competition Rules was paramount to the integrity of the competition.
“The Competition Rules are the backbone of a fair and equitable Suncorp Super Netball competition,” Richardson said.
“We acknowledge this was the Firebirds first breach and we thank them for their cooperation during the review.”
