Sophie Garbin and Natalie Haythornthwaite will wear NSW Swifts colours again in 2020, after both players signed contract extensions.
The Swifts, currently sitting atop the Super Netball ladder, are poised for a major tilt at finals and will now enter next season with the majority of their squad intact.
The signings bring to eight the number of Swifts to have recommitted to the NSW franchise next year, with defensive duo Sarah Klau and Kate Eddy the only players who remain unsigned.
Garbin enjoyed a breakout year in 2018 at goal shooter, and while opportunities were limited throughout the first half of the season, has ably stepped into Helen Housby's shoes at the unfamiliar goal attack spot as the England international battles injury.
Haythornthwaite missed the first half of the season with a hamstring injury but has returned to the starting lineup in the wake of the Commonwealth Games and quickly found form.
NSW Swifts General Manager Nikki Horton said it was exciting to lock two more players away on the eve of finals.
“Sophie and Natalie are very popular players in our squad and really buy into the culture that our coaches have built,” she said.
“Sophie has come into her own of late and really stepped up in huge back-to-back games against the Sunshine Coast Lightning and Melbourne Vixens and it is great to have options in the shooting circle.
“Natalie was really unlucky to get injured in the pre-season, and anyone who saw her in action around then knew she was looking world-class.
“But she has worked really hard and managed to get back on court for the World Cup and I think she demonstrated against the Vixens that she’s nearing the top of her game again."
The Swifts will again be without Housby for this Saturday's game against the Magpies, with NSW Waratahs players Tayla Fraser and Elle Bennetts called in as injury replacements.
