The star defender underwent scans this morning after aggravating her lower back at training on Tuesday.
“It’s disappointing she’s not available for this weekend at our first home game of the season against Lightning, said Firebirds head coach Roselee Jencke.
“Everyone has to do their job and play their role – a concerted effort from every player as a team is what i want from the girls,” said Jencke.
Geitz is being guided by the advice of the team doctor to increase her availability for next week.
“We are treating it conservatively to minimise the risk of further damage and making sure she ticks all the boxes to be back out there for Vixens in Round 3,” said the Firebirds Physical Performance manager.
The Firebirds host Sunshine Coast Lightning at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Sunday 6 May at 3pm local time. Watch live on Channel 9 and Telstra TV, or secure your seat.
