South Australian talent Georgie Horjus has cemented her commitment to the Adelaide Thunderbirds, signing a two-year deal with the club.
In her first official season as a contracted athlete, Horjus backed up her strong debut season in 2020 with another stellar year in 2021.
Horjus shot 183 goals, recorded 118 goal assists, and topped her side for centre pass receives with 252.
Horjus was named goal attack of the Nissan Net Points Team of the Round on three occasions, in rounds 5, 6 and 13; and went on to be named overall Player of the Round in rounds 6 and 13.
Last month, Horjus was named in the 2021/22 Australian Development Squad at just 20 years of age.
Thunderbirds High Performance Manager Pitre Bourdon said the club was thrilled to secure the young local star for another two seasons.
“Georgie cemented her place in our starting seven in 2021, building on the potential we saw from her in 2020,” Bourdon said.
“She is an incredibly talented local netballer with strong netball smarts and we’re very excited to see her continue to grow in the coming seasons.
“Georgie is passionate about the club and playing for her state and we’re confident she will play a key role in our club’s future.”
