If significantly impacted by COVID-19, a team must exhaust their own list of nominated athletes and training partners – dependent on position (goalers, midcourt and defenders) – before applying to select another club’s nominated athlete or training partner.
Under the COVID-19 Contingency Framework, GIANTS Netball has selected West Coast Fever training partner Chelsea Pitman for this Sunday’s match against the Adelaide Thunderbirds at Netball SA Stadium.
Pitman has signed a temporary replacement player contract with the GIANTS for the Round 2 match, following approval by the League and with support from the Fever.
If the GIANTS wish to select Pitman for a subsequent match, the same contracting process will apply.
If a nominated athlete’s original team requires them for a match to replace a player due to injury, illness or COVID-19 they can recall them if:
- The nominated athlete is recalled more than 24 hours prior to the original team’s match start time or the impacted team’s match, whichever is the earlier scheduled match; and
- The nominated athlete is included in the final squad of 10 athletes for the match
The COVID-19 Contingency Framework was developed in consultation with all eight Suncorp Super Netball teams and has been designed to support the competition’s communication, preparation and response planning in circumstances where there is an increased risk of COVID-19 exposure.
