Ingles is listed as a temporary replacement player on the team’s preliminary list ahead of Saturday’s crucial game against the Sunshine Coast Lightning, with Watson remaining sidelined.
The 31-year-old, who returned from the USA – where she is based with husband and NBA star Joe Ingles – just over two weeks ago, was recruited as a training partner for the Vixens after playing one game in Victoria’s state league.
And she was quickly called into action when Watson was ruled unable to play, elevated into the Vixens’ selected 10 players against Giants Netball last weekend and taking the court in the second half.
Ingles emerged from retirement in the inaugural Suncorp Super Netball season to help the struggling Adelaide Thunderbirds, before retiring again at season’s end.
Saturday’s game shapes as a critical one for both the Vixens and Lightning, who are currently placed fourth and fifth, respectively, on the Super Netball ladder.
