Ryde will undergo an initial recovery phase under the guidance of club medical staff before commencing rehab with club strength and conditioning coach Stuart Mitchell, with the Vixens and VIS continuing to service Ryde as begins her return to the court.
Samantha Gooden has been named as a permanent replacement player for the upcoming season as Ryde continues her recovery.
No stranger to the Vixens environment, the Victorian-based shooter progressed through the Netball Victoria pathway and was named a Melbourne Vixens Training Partner in 2016. In 2017, she joined Magpies Netball as a Training Partner, continuing her pursuit in a high performance setting.
Melbourne Vixens head coach Simone McKinnis OAM expressed sympathy for Emma, who has
taken to the court seven times in her time at the club.
“I really feel for Emma. She has worked extremely hard this pre-season and was ready to make an impact on the Suncorp Super Netball stage,” McKinnis said.
“Emma will remain as part of our squad this season and we will continue to support her throughout her recovery.”
“We are delighted to welcome Sam back to the Vixens. We believe she is the next best shooter in Victoria and we’re looking forward to adding her to the Vixens line-up in 2018.
