The Collingwood Magpies' 2020 list has become clearer after the club announced the signing of Molly Jovic and Kelly Altmann as replacement players for the injured Kelsey Browne and Ash Brazill.
The 24-year-old Jovic signed on as a permanent squad memeber and is set to replace Ash Brazill, who sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in Collingwood’s AFLW round four match in February.
The up and coming mid-courter agreed to join the Pies in September last year as a temporary replacement player for Kelsey Browne, who is also rehabilitating an ACL injury.
Altmann, who has spent the last three seasons in the Adelaide Thunderbirds system, has also joined the squad as a temporary replacement player while Browne works her way back to a return.
The 27-year-old made her Super Netball debut in the centre position for the Adelaide Thunderbirds’ opening round last year.
Altmann was a member of Southern Force in the Australian National League for six years and named as the side’s most valued player in 2017 and ’18.
Jovic was a member of both the Tasmanian Magpies ANL and City West Falcons VNL sides in 2019, following two years with Victorian Fury in the ANL.
Collingwood’s GM of Women’s Sport, Jane Woodlands-Thompson, is pleased to see the 2020 list take form.
“We are delighted to elevate Molly as a permanent player for this year”, Woodlands-Thompson said.
“Although under unfortunate circumstances, Molly’s dedication to her training over the past six months is something to be rewarded.
“I am also pleased to welcome Kelly to the group as we look to maximise our mid-court talent stocks at Collingwood.”
