Fresh off their 2020 Grand Final victory, the Melbourne Vixens have announced that Liz Watson and Jo Weston have re-signed with the club for the 2021 season.
2020 Co-Captain, Watson, lead the League for goal assists in 2020 – with 367 – despite missing Rounds 12 and 13 through injury. She was also key in the Vixens’ two-goal Grand Final of the West Coast Fever, amassing 38 goal assists and 57 feeds.
Weston also had a stellar 2020, capped off by being named dual Runner Up at the 2020 Sharelle McMahon Medal – the Vixens Player of the Season Award - as well as the Vixens player of the Finals.
Both Watson and Weston have once again been named in the 2020/21 Diamonds squad.
Netball Victoria’s General Manager – Vixens, Performance & Pathways, Rebekah Webster, said it was fantastic to be able to lock in so many key members of the 2020 squad ahead of the 2021 season.
“Liz and Jo are two names that are now synonymous with the Vixens family, and whilst fans are used to seeing the work they do on the court, they are instrumental in the work they do off the court around the club as well.”
The pair join 2020 Sharelle McMahon Medallist, Kate Moloney, 2020 Grand Final MVP, Mwai Kumwenda, plus Emily Mannix and Kadie-Ann Dehaney of current Vixens contracted for 2021.
