A superior shooting effort has propelled Collingwood to a drought-breaking 60-56 win over Adelaide Thunderbirds in Melbourne.
Both sides had suffered double-digit losses in their first two games, heading into Saturday's clash at John Cain Arena.
But it was Collingwood who found their range to break their duck for the season, shooting 90 per cent compared to the Thunderbirds 79.
The Magpies' Shimona Nelson shaded a great duel with her Jamaican compatriot Shamera Sterling, making 37 of her 39 attempts while Gabrielle Sinclair landed two of her five match-high super shots down the stretch.
Collingwood held a narrow lead for much of the game but could not shrug off a determined Thunderbirds outfit who were up by two with less than four minutes left.
But Adelaide were held scoreless from that point, with Sinclair landing from distance and Nelson adding a couple from close range.
Jodi-Ann Ward was a big defensive presence for the Magpies pulling off four intercepts, while wing attack Kelsey Browne was dynamic, connecting well with Nelson on numerous occasions as she racked-up a match-high 25 assists.
Magpies coach Nicole Richardson stuck with the same starting seven for the entire match, while her Adelaide counterpart Tania Obst made several changes through the game.
The two teams went virtually goal for goal through the first half, with neither ever leading by more than three.
The see-saw nature of the game continued after halftime.
The Magpies edged to a 44-40 lead late in the third quarter, but Adelaide levelled by the end of the term despite Samantha Gooden missing two close-range shots.
Lenize Potgieter was Adelaide's most reliable shooter, making 23 of her 25 attempts.
