Hailing from Albury-Wodonga, Cook – one of the tallest players in Australian netball – lands at the Magpies after stints with the Adelaide Thunderbirds and Victorian Fury.
Raw, but full of talent and potential, the 20-year-old has worked her way up through the Victorian pathways, and is one of the most promising young players in the country.
General Manager of Collingwood Magpies Netball Jennifer McIntyre said Cook would be a welcome addition to the Holden Centre.
“We are very excited to have secured Jane as a training partner with the Magpies for season 2018,” McIntyre said this week.
“She is an outstanding young talent, with great height and athleticism.
“Her experience at SSN level is invaluable for someone of her age, and she has a determination to continue to improve which is a prized quality of any athlete.”
Joining Tasmanian mid-courter Kelsie Rainbow as the two newest additions to the Magpies’ training partner roster, both Cook and Rainbow will represent the Tasmanian Magpies in the Australian Netball League, commencing this weekend in Perth against the Western Sting.
Furthermore, Cook will be reunited with former Thunderbirds teammate Erin Bell, who joined the Magpies as a free agent in the 2017 off-season.
