After making her debut as an 18-year-old with the GIANTS in 2019, McDonell’s game time and on-court performance has only continued to grow.
McDonell took the court on 12 occasions throughout 2021, predominantly slotting into the now vacant goal-keeper position.
After playing 195 minutes across the season, the 184cm defender from Hawkesbury finished the season with six intercepts, 17 deflections and one rebound.
If she’s not capturing the attention of members and fans with her spectacular intercepts, she’s entertaining with her passion and excitement as she cheers on her teammates from the sideline.
McDonell shared the excitement levels that she’s renowned for, when expressing her delight in re-signing with the club for another two seasons.
“I absolutely love this club and truly believe we have something special building here,” she said.
“We have this incredible environment which focuses on the development of both our youth and experience where we all push to get the best out of each other every session.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that we can’t take that extra step next season and bring home the trophy.”
McDonell is the fourth GIANT to sign a two-year deal, the maximum currently allowed based on the league’s new licensing and contract deal.
