2017 and 2020 Super Netball Coach of the Year winner Simone McKinnis isn't going anywhere, with the Melbourne Vixens confirming they have extended her contract for another four years
The extension marks the first major signing by any of the eight clubs beyond the 2021 season and McKinnis’ deal will see her remain with the Vixens until the end of 2025.
McKinnis began in the role in 2013, has won two championships (2014 and 2020) and three Coach of the Year awards (2014, 2017 and 2020) presented by the league.
Simone said she’s looking forward to the next phase of the club.
“I’m really excited to have signed with the Vixens for another four years, and look forward to what we can do in this next stage of the club,” said McKinnis.
“This year has tested us a club, and I have no doubt we’ll use this to build something really special, and I’m looking forward to seeing what that looks like.
“The Vixens family is something I’m proud to be a part of, and I can’t imagine continuing my life in netball anywhere else.”
General Manager – Vixens, Performance and Pathways, Rebekah Webster spoke of Simone’s re-signing.
“Simone epitomises what the Vixens are about and leads by example in everything she does,” said Webster.
“She has genuine care for the development of the athletes on the court and as leaders in the sport.
“We’re thrilled to have her with the club for another four years and look forward to the success we know she’ll bring.”
The league is yet to announce when player contracting for 2022 begins.
