Medhurst’s arrival will make for an entirely new look in attack for the Magpies next year, with goalers Shimona Nelson and Gabby Sinclair earlier joining the squad.
Medhurst’s court craft and sure hands are legendary. Her honour roll includes three world championship gold medals and 86 caps with the Australian Diamonds, Commonwealth Games gold, a national championship and the distinction of being the ANZ Championship MVP in 2011.
Medhurst comes to Collingwood from West Coast Fever, who finished runner-up in the recently completed 2018 Suncorp Super Netball season.
New Magpies Netball coach, Rob Wright, now has his full squad assembled.
April Brandley, Ash Brazill, Matilda Garrett, Madi Robinson and Kim Ravaillion have been retained from the 2018 team, with Geva Mentor, Sinclair, Nelson, Kelsey Browne and Medhurst recruited.
“Nat is a wonderful player and leader – she captained the Fever for so many years and was a strong voice within the Diamonds – who will drive our entire group not only with her play but through her experience and hunger to succeed,” said Wright.
“Nat handles the big moments in matches so well and she has always made her team-mates better. Her timing and the synergy she has developed with so many shooters over the years are qualities that are going to make us better.
“I see Nat as the perfect finishing touch to our program.”
