Ingles will travel to Sydney this week, as Vixens medical staff monitor a niggling knee injury to Chloe Watson and, to a lesser extent, an ankle injury to Jo Weston.
Having retired from the Adelaide Thunderbirds at the end of the 2017 season, Ingles spent the past 11 months in the USA with her young family – twins Jacob and Milla (almost two) and husband, Joe who plays for the Utah Jazz in the NBA.
Seven years after her last game with the Vixens, Ingles said it was an honour to ‘come home’.
“I’ve been so excited just to get home to Melbourne to be with my family and then the opportunity came up to come in and train with the Vixens which to me is just a dream come true.
“I’m so excited to be back home playing netball in Victoria.
“The Vixens always play a very exciting brand of netball, so I’m excited to get in and train with the girls,” Ingles said.
Returning home from Utah last Tuesday morning, Ingles stepped onto court in the Bupa Victorian Netball League on Wednesday night for the Melbourne University Lightning.
Melbourne Vixens head coach Simone McKinnis said Ingles still loves the game and still wants to play.
“She’s just got so much experience and she’s fit and strong and raring to go, so we invited her in to train and she’s rapt about it, and so are we,” McKinnis said.
The second-placed Vixens travel to Sydney this Sunday to take on third-placed GIANTS Netball at Quaycentre on Sunday.
