The nine-person committee, that will meet for the first time tomorrow, brings together Suncorp Super Netball club administrators and players, the Australian Netball Players’ Association and Netball Australia representatives.
While the committee does not have final decision-making rights, it has been established to discuss and make informed and evidence-based recommendations to the Netball Australia board in relation to:
- any modifications to the Suncorp Super Netball competition rules that will enhance the sport entertainment product
- any suggestions that will help maintain competitive balance
- any issues arising from club (domestic) vs country (international) commitments
- any additional matters that the board feels requires consideration
Netball Australia Executive General Manager of Events Chris Symington said the committee will simplify the league’s stakeholder feedback and decision-making processes.
“Several workgroups were established in 2017 to discuss important topics relevant to the operations of the league after its inaugural season,” he said.
“Upon review of this process, we saw an opportunity to re-frame this structure to create a single Suncorp Super Netball Competition Committee which will provide a more consolidated and streamlined approach to collating feedback and making decisions that will shape the future of the league.”
The Netball Australia board will consider any recommendations made by the committee and provide final approval of any modifications to the Suncorp Super Netball league.
The committee will meet tomorrow to discuss the 2019 Suncorp Super Netball season.
