After finishing the 2018 season in sixth place, the NSW Swifts are poised to take the next step and challenge for their first appearance in the Suncorp Super Netball finals.
They have stars all over the court and some of the most exciting young talent pushing for a place in the starting seven.
But putting it all together will be their biggest challenge.
Captain Maddy Proud will lead a talented midcourt which includes English international Natalie Haythornwaite, who joined the Swifts at the late stages of 2018.
Paige Hadley and Maddy Turner complete a group that should be a tough match-up for any team throughout the season.
The Swifts boast one of the most dynamic attacking trios in the league with Sam Wallace, Helen Housby and Sophie Garbin all pushing for starting minutes.
Kate Eddy and Sarah Klau return as the starters for the 2019 season, but both will be tested by young prospect Lauren Moore, who has been elevated from the training partner list after a strong season with the NSW Waratahs in 2018.
The pieces are all there for Swifts coach Briony Akle, but whether they all fall in place may come down to whether the promising young talent develops into the next generation of Super Netball stars.
It’s a NSW derby to the start the season for the Swifts, as they take on the cross-town rival GIANTS on Sunday April 28 at 1.00PM.
