Jane Cook, Sharni Lambden, Kelsie Rainbow, Melissa Bragg and Vanessa Augustini return to the Magpies after spending the 2018 season as training partners with the club. Measuring in at 201cm, goal shooter Jane Cook was a dominant force for the Magpies state-affiliate side, the Tasmanian Magpies, and was a crucial part of the team’s premiership victory this year. Cook led the competition in goals scored, converting 534 of 609 attempts for an impressive shooting percentage of 88%.
After a massive 2018 season with the Tasmanian Magpies which saw her take home the team’s Best and Fairest award, midcourter Sharni Lambden will look to continue her development as one of the most exciting young talents in the country.
Kelsie Rainbow’s speed and versatility at the wing attack position was a major feature of the Tasmanian Magpies game style last season and, after making her Collingwood debut in a pre-season match in 2018, she’ll be looking to make her mark on the Suncorp Super Netball league some time in the 2019 season.
2018 proved to be a memorable season for midcourter Melissa Bragg as her strong performance for the Tasmanian Magpies earned her a spot in the Collingwood line-up, where she made her Suncorp Super Netball league debut in round five against the Swifts.
The decision to take a year away from the sport proved to be a good one for midcourter Vanessa Augustini, as she played a pivotal role in the premiership winning Tasmanian Magpies side in her 2018 return.
After a strong year as a Melbourne Vixen’s training partner, where she scored 132 goals in just 9 games for the Victorian Fury, Samantha Gooden returns to the Collingwood Magpies for 2019. Gooden made her Suncorp Super Netball debut with the Magpies in 2017 and will be keen to push for selection in the side again in 2019.
Young defender Brooke Allan will make her debut as a Collingwood Magpies training partner after starring for the Geelong Cougars in the Bupa Victorian Netball League in 2018. Allen has plenty of experience playing in high-stakes games after being named the best player in the 2017 U/17 Australian Championships Grand Final and playing in last year’s VNL grand final.
