There’s no doubt the Suncorp Super Netball League is the best domestic competition in the world.
And while every player who gets the opportunity to don their club colours have proven they can match it with the best, there was a collection of athletes who really stood out in 2022.
As we begin counting down the days to the next season of netball, here are some of the stand outs from the season gone by.
Jhaniele Fowler
West Coast Fever powerhouse Jhaniele Fowler has proven time and time again that she is the league’s best shooter.
The four-time league player of the year winner was unstoppable again in 2022.
A key bookend to the West Coast Fever line-up, Fowler topped the league for Nissan Net Points with 1668.5, goals with 929, offensive rebounds with 55 and shot at 97 per cent accuracy.

Liz Watson has certainly made a name for herself as one of the best netballers in the world and that status extends to our domestic competition.
With the ball on a string and the leadership skills on and off the court Liz is a notch above the rest.
The midcourter returned to the court this year having missed the 2021 season due to injury and she didn’t miss a beat. Watson finished the 2022 season second in the league for Nissan Net Points with 1262 and averaged 40 feeds per match.
Shamera Sterling
Shamera Sterling’s flair is impossible to miss. The defender’s ability to read the play and steal possession from her opponents is next to none.
Sterling tallied up an impressive 52 intercepts and 67 deflections throughout the regular Suncorp Super Netball season with the Adelaide Thunderbirds not making finals.
Sterling finished 2022 number one in the league for intercepts. Courtney Bruce
From one defender to another, West Coast Fever captain Courtney Bruce led the way in defence as her team achieved premiership glory in 2022.
The defender was first in the league for deflections with 116, defensive rebounds with 47 and second for intercepts with 39. Bruce finished third in the league for Nissan Net Points with 1228.5.
Maddy Proud
Maddy Proud’s relentless work in the NSW Swifts midcourt was outstanding throughout 2022.
Proud earned 1214.5 Nissan Net Points and had 364 goal assists throughout the season, 11 intercepts and 28 deflections.
The season saw Proud receive a call up into the Origin Australian Diamonds squad and become Diamond #186.
Gretel Bueta
It was a stellar year on the court for Queensland Firebird Gretel Bueta. She finished the season on
and a shooting accuracy of 90 per cent. She also topped the league for number of centre pass receives with 365.
Bueta went on to play a major role in in Diamonds’ quest for Commonwealth Games gold, scoring 253 goals during the Games.

Parmy army rejoice, Amy Parmenter continued to go from strength to strength in 2022.
Parmenter’s quick speed, shutdown capacity and intercept instinct resulted in her finishing the season with 630.5 Nissan Net Points, 28 intercepts and 59 deflections.
Jo Harten
GIANTS captain Jo Harten was a force to be reckoned with in season 2022. Harten slotted the most super shots of any shooter and finished the year on a total of 524 goals.
Harten was the spark her team needed throughout the season and her willingness to put the ball up alongside fellow shooters Sophie Dwyer and Matisse Letherbarrow resulted in the GIANTS overtaking opponents on the scoreboard throughout the season.
Jo Harten scored the most super shots in 2022. Latanya Wilson
Following in the footsteps of her Adelaide Thunderbirds teammate Latanya Wilson burst onto the scene in 2022. Wilson has quickly become one of the most dangerous defenders in the league with 31 intercepts and 70 deflections she’s sure to cause headaches for the opposition again in 2023.
Ash Brazill
Talented cross-code star Ash Brazill followed her opponents like a shadow, matching their every move to slow the play. Owning the wing defence and centre bibs Brazill’s 11 intercepts, 22 gains and 32 deflections puts her among the best of the best.
