9. Latanya Wilson
Latanya Wilson’s strength throughout 2023 was shutting down the opposition through the court.
Her flexibility to swing between wing defence and circle defence while being just as impactful was a strong attribute for the Thunderbirds.
Wilson demonstrated time and time again her game smarts and defensive skills that have her among the best in the world.
Wilson finished 2023 with 70 deflections and 30 intercepts, her best performance for the season coming in Round 14 against the NSW Swifts.
During that clash Wilson dominated with 10 gains and four intercepts against the Swifts with the majority coming in the first half forcing the Swifts to rethink their passing.
8. Liz Watson

7. Jhaniele Fowler
Jhaniele Fowler wasn’t only the league’s highest Nissan Net Point collector, she was also dangerously accurate under post.
Once the ball is in the air above her, there’s next to no stopping her from scoring, on the rare occasion she does miss she’s quick to rebound and go again.
What makes Fowler so terrifying for opposition defenders is that although she mostly scores from normal range, she’s not afraid to step up in the big moments and slot a long bomb when it’s needed.
Fowler’s best performance for 2023 is hard to pinpoint with the shooter no stranger to shooting entire matches at 100 per cent but we’ve gone with Round 7 against the Sunshine Coast Lightning.
