The Collingwood Magpies and GIANTS Netball will travel today to prepare for their Round 5 Suncorp Super Netball League matches.
The Magpies were due to fly to Sydney on Saturday ahead of the Indigenous Round clash at Ken Rosewall Arena, however they will depart Melbourne today given the increasing coronavirus uncertainty in Victoria.
The GIANTS flew to Perth this morning ahead of their match against the West Coast Fever at RAC Arena on Monday.
The NSW-based club had been in Melbourne for their Round 4 victory over the Melbourne Vixens. On return to Sydney, it was decided they should fly to Perth earlier than planned to safeguard Monday night’s game.
The announcement comes after the Melbourne Vixens flew to Queensland two days early to prepare for their match against the Queensland Firebirds.
The league is also looking to relocate a number of Victorian-based umpires.
Suncorp Super Netball Operations Manager Bill Allen said the league was continuing to work with the relevant health authorities.
“I’d like to thank the clubs and umpires for being agile and adaptable as the coronavirus situation unfolds in Victoria,” Allen said.
”We are closely monitoring the situation to ensure all Suncorp Super Netball players, coaches, staff and officials are following the advice of the relevant health authorities.”
