Dear Netball fans,
Last week’s decision to defer the Suncorp Super Netball season was a difficult one, made for the right reasons.
With the entire nation, and indeed the world, working to deal with the COVID19 crisis, it was important that we prioritise the health of fans, players, staff and many others associated with our competition.
We understand that cancelling the Team Girls Cup and deferring the SSN season will disappoint many, but the responsibility of every organisation and individual is to take what steps they can to slow the spread of the virus.
The netball family’s response to the recent bushfire crisis was evidence of the resilience, compassion and generosity of our community and it’s those qualities that we all need right now.
We will be making daily assessments of the situation in consultation with medical experts and government with a view to beginning the season as soon as it is absolutely safe.
In the meantime, we’ll keep working to ensure that you have the latest information on how you can remain connected to netball and your favourite Suncorp Super Netball team.
We have plans to create some unique content to keep you entertained while we wait for the return of live action and we’ll be listening to you about what you’d most like to see, read and hear.
These are unique and challenging times for our sport and our priority will continue to be the health and wellbeing of our amazing netball community – our fans, athletes, coaches, umpires, officials, volunteers and staff.
As the situation we are dealing with is fluid, there will be changes which we will share with you.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the world’s best netball competition just a soon as we can.
