Round 4 of Suncorp Super Netball is Give for a Goal Round and this weekend the league will turn purple, the colour of the Confident Girls Foundation.
With two weeks of Give for a Goal month to go, any community netballer can get involved with the initiative and the highest fundraiser will receive a visit from a Suncorp Super Netball Confident Girls Foundation ambassador.
Sunshine Coast Lightning captain and Confident Girls Foundation ambassador Laura Langman said the Suncorp Super Netball athletes and clubs are honoured to be able to put their support behind such a worthy appeal.
“Give for a Goal Round gives us an opportunity as a league to raise awareness and funds for the Confident Girls Foundation. The funds raised gives us the opportunity to get out into the community to use netball as a vehicle to empower girls,” she said.
“I’m encouraging everyone to jump on board with the Give for a Goal fundraiser by donating at this weekend’s Suncorp Super Netball matches so that the Foundation is able to help more girls than ever before – every little bit helps!”
The Give for a Goal appeal asks clubs, associations, schools and individuals to fundraise by asking those around to donate for each goal scored in a selected netball game. All money raised will go towards programs that focus on helping vulnerable girls become confident girls.
Confident Girls interim CEO Nadine Cohen said she’s humbled by the support shown by the Suncorp Super Netball league, as well as community netballers right around Australia.
“The Suncorp Super Netball league has been a supporter of Give for a Goal since the inception of the competition in 2017 and we’re honoured that the clubs, athletes and spectators continue to be so giving when it comes to Give for a Goal Round,” she said.
“The Confident Girls Foundation continues to provide opportunities for vulnerable girls right across Australia, as netball has done for many years – the exposure given to the Give for a Goal fundraiser during this round is invaluable to the Foundation.”
The Confident Girls Foundation is a unique charity focusing on empowering vulnerable girls around Australia, utilising netball as the mechanism in achieving this.
The Foundation funds programs that help vulnerable girls achieve their dreams by highlighting and helping eliminate key drivers of gender bias including, financial barriers, lack of leadership opportunities, isolation, gender stereotypes that negatively affect young women, and barriers to physical activity.
