The Melbourne Vixens have snatched victory (62-61) from the Collingwood Magpies after Mwai Kumwenda slotted four Super Shots in the dying moments - including one after the final whistle.
But the win was marred by an error in the final term in which the Vixens were awarded two centre passes in a row.
"Netball Australia is now reviewing the circumstances that led to an error in the fourth quarter of yesterday's match between the Collingwood Magpies and the Melbourne Vixens, where the Vixens were awarded two consecutive centre passes," the organisation said in a statement.
"Under the Suncorp Super Netball Rules of the Game, the result of the match stands with the Melbourne Vixens winning 62-61."
In front of an electric crowd at John Cain Arena, the Magpies won every quarter but the last.
The Magpies were consistent in their game plan. They fed the ball with incredible accuracy to shooter Shimona Nelson throughout the game, and the Vixens were unable to put a stop to it. Nelson scored 47/48.
The Pies also stuck to what was working for them, with the mid-court showing great vision to be able to work it up and over to their GS.
When it wasn’t Nelson scoring, it was Sophie Garbin who continued her stellar form of Super Shot accuracy. At times, the Vixens allowed Nelson to score a single goal, choosing to double Garbin and prevent her from having an opportunity to score a two.
Olivia Lewis showed some great anticipation, always on the lookout to get a hand to the ball, even if it was risky. This paid off on occasion and when it didn’t it still applied pressure to the Magpies.
When Jo Weston subbed on for the first time this season, she didn’t miss a beat. She was needed for some extra power on defence. She had four deflections for the game and one intercept.
On the opposite end, the Vixens started strong through Kumwenda. Liz Watson and Kiera Austin worked well together, often finding Kumwenda at the end of it.
The mid-court pressure from both teams showed great intensity, however, this resulted in multiple penalties. Molly Jovic was formally cautioned by the umpire for persistent contact around the goal circle.
Kate Eddy was tasked with the difficult job on Kelsey Browne, who was a key part of why the Magpies led most of the game – her ability to feed Nelson so efficiently, she finished with 31 feeds to her name.
Unfortunately for the Magpies, the connection between Browne and Nelson was not enough to secure the win.
A see-sawing final term showed the game was still very much up for grabs.
After having her buzzer-beater Super Shot called off in the third quarter, it was made up for in the end.
Kumwenda shot her fourth super shot of the game (going 4/4), and she nailed the game-winner after the buzzer for her Vixens side.
