The Collingwood Magpies have confirmed that shooters Emma Ryde and Nyah Allen will join Sharni Lambden and Brooke Allan as team training partners for the 2020 season.
Ryde, who was named the DUANL Most Valuable Player for 2019, proved she has what it takes to make an impact at the national level when she was signed as a temporary replacement player for the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
Ryde played four games for the Thunderbirds in 2019, scoring 66-goals from 71-attempts, before going down with a lower body injury in Round 13.
Nyah Allan joins the Magpies as a crafty goal attack, cast from a similar mould as new teammate Nat Medhurst. She’ll relish the opportunity to learn from the world champion shooter in 2020.
This is familiar territory for Sharni Lambden and Brooke Allan, who both return to the Magpies after spending 2019 on the training partner list.
This will be year three with Collingwood for Lambden, who is seen as one of the top midcourt talents in the country after her 2018 Best and Fairest winning performance with the Tasmanian Magpies.
Goal keeper Brooke Allan will look to continue her development at the goal keeper position under the tutelage of one of the world’s best in Geva Mentor.
The Magpies 2020 campaign will kick-off at Melbourne Arena against the West Coast Fever on May 2nd. Check out their full fixture here.
