In one of the biggest moves of the 2021 signing period, the Adelaide Thunderbirds have secured former Queensland Firebirds shooter Tippah Dwan.
The 21-year-old Dwan joins fellow up-and-coming shooting Georgie Horjus, who re-signed with the club earlier in the signing period, in what promises to be one of the most exciting shooting circles in the competition in 2022.
Dwan made a name for herself in 2020 with a breakout season at the Queensland Firebirds, impressing with her fast movement and accuracy at the post as a replacement player for Gretel Bueta.
In her first season of Super Netball in 2020, she shot 184 goals, recorded 148 goal assists, 255 feeds and 253 centre pass receives, demonstrating her immense impact in the Firebirds attack line.
With Bueta returning to the court in 2021, Dwan saw her role change in 2021, racking up 48 goals, recorded 62 goal assists and 101 feeds off the bench.
Last month, Dwan was selected in the 2021/22 Australian Development Squad – the direct pathway to the Australian Diamonds.
Thunderbirds High Performance Manager Pitre Bourdon said Dwan added great versatility to the side.
“Tippah is a very dynamic and agile player who will bring great netball smarts to our attack end,” Bourdon said.
“We’ve seen what she’s capable of over the past two SSN seasons and we’re very excited to welcome her to our club.”
