The Melbourne Vixens busy re-signing period has continued today, as the club confirmed that star defender Jo Weston will remain a Vixens for the 2022 season.
Weston debuted for the Vixens in its championship-winning year of 2014 and has since been named Player of the Finals (2017 and 2020), received Excellence in Sport and Life award (2016 and 2020) and awarded runner up MVP (2020).
Having been named in the Vixens leadership group this year, Weston’s passion and guidance has been an asset to the team, particularly in her role as President of the Australian Netball Players’ Association.
The 2022 Melbourne Vixens team is beginning to take shape, with Weston joining Kate Moloney and Liz Watson as the players signed on for the upcoming season.
“I’m so proud to have been involved with the Vixens for so long now, and to be signing on again in 2022,” said Weston.
“Every game is an honour to represent Victoria and Melbourne, and I’m really looking forward to what we can bring as a team next year.
“Going in to my ninth season, I’ve definitely seen the game grow in a lot of aspects. We’re stepping into a new phase of the sport that I really hope will help lift the profile of all our athletes, and women’s sport in general.
“From a Vixens point of view, I know that with the team we’re building, we’re going to be in a good position to bounce back in 2022.”
The club also confirmed a fourth signing will be revealed tomorrow.
